January colours - half day workshop in mixing watercolours
Description
Join Emma Leyfield for a half day workshop in mixing watercolours, looking at the colours of winter and how best to use your paints. January has been accused of being bleak but each month has its place and rituals to move through it. If you've previously attended one of Emma’s classes, and have been dabbling a little, or perhaps haven't lifted a brush since, then this is your opportunity for a refresher. This class is also suitable as a taster session for beginners at watercolours, or those who feel that mixing colours is something they struggle with. The session includes a sketchbook prompt focusing on the colours of winter, window views, and cosy sketch-booking through the season. If you have a set of watercolours that you use at home, you're welcome to bring this for a 'watercolour consultation'. This is to talk through what colours you have, others you might need and the difference between different brands and types of watercolours. Professional watercolours are provided for you to test out during the session. MEET THE TUTOR: Emma is an emerging artist and freelance illustrator who specialises in watercolours and portraiture and is known for her sketchbooks, which she makes through bookbinding. Specialising in observational watercolours, Emma is passionate about traditional methods of drawing that are being lost as digital art takes the stage. This is visible in her work, which is inspired by the illustrators of the Golden age and is often referred to as nostalgic; reminding the viewer of their childhood. This impression is emphasised by the subjects she chooses, which capture the wonder and curiosity of the world around her, with particular focus on British plants and wildlife.

Sheep Street Car Park is a longer stay car park 3 minutes away, it is a cashless car park facilitated by Pay by Phone. Full details of all car parks and pricing can be found on Cotswold District Council Website.
We pride ourselves on smaller class sizes, so you get plenty of help from the tutors. Maximum 8-10 students per class.
Of course, and for some classes we may ask you to do this. Please don’t worry, if this is the case it will be clearly shown on the booking pages and in your confirmation emails.
No, we ask that students either bring their own or wear clothes they are happy to get messy in.
You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food or drinks into the studio.
