Description

The focus of this course is to give students an introduction into Primitive Skills. During this One day course you will learn how to work with various animal bones to create tools and other craft components. Bone is a fantastic material with which you can not only create functional tools but also art. The day will also consist of basic flint knapping and resin glue making that would be used to turn bone components into tools. One of the many benefits of learning more about Primitive Skills and using the traditional tools at hand is that you gain a much better understanding of the materials around us and how they work. You will be guided through the day by Bill Souter, an expert in primitive skills. Subjects Covered: Bone - its composition, the best bone for the job and how it can be used. Preparation - What to do with bones to make them useable. Tools - the simple, natural tools that were used by our ancestors, plus some more modern day ones to make life easier.
