Description
Sally Mareike's Home Education handbuilding workshops are suitable for beginners and those who would like to improve their skills. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to play with clay and get a bit messy! Sally is an experienced hand-building potter and teacher of adults and children. (DBS checked). Each of the 2-part workshops are separate projects. They are 2 x 1 hour classes, a week apart. Week 1: Making. Week 2: Glazing. Sally will demonstrate the basics of hand-building techniques, which might be slab building, coiling and pinch pots, depending on the project of the week. Decorative techniques such as incising, impressing and applying sprigs, as well as slip, oxide decorations and glazing will also be shown. Using what they’ve learned, the children will be gently guided and supported to create their own beautiful pots using some of these techniques. They can expect to have a lot of fun and feel calm and inspired when connecting with the clay. Projects might include mugs, animals, bug houses, candle holders, dragons and mythical creatures, jugs & mugs, magical worlds, treasure boxes, vessels, simple sculptures or bowls. This term: 31/1 & 7 /2: Jugs 14/2 & 21/2: Fishy Dishes 28/2 & 7/3: Games 14/3 & 21/3: Silly egg cups and plant pots 28/3 & 4/4: Dragons and other creatures Make sure you wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
