2 Day French Mattress Cushion Workshop in Lincolnshire
Description
This workshop will teach you how to make your own French mattress cushion. The skills learnt across the 2 days can then be transferred into making your own cushion at home for a windowsill, day bed, floor cushions, garden seat cushions or even dog bed. The sample we make in class will have a foam insert covered in wadding and will measure approx. 40 x 40 cms. You will start by cutting and covering the foam in polyester wadding before machine stitching a box cushion cover. An ideal fabric for this is a linen or linen union fabric. Other fabrics work too. Students will need to provide their own fabric. 1 metre should be enough. You will then mark out the stitching and use the French mattress stitch technique to create that lovely edging. To finish it off you will make your own covered buttons or traditional tuft buttons. This class is designed for students with some sewing machine experience. If the student has their own sewing machine this can be brought along too but not compulsory.
