Forge a Knife- Blacksmithing and Knifemaking Experience Day
Description
Let me guess: you've watched Forged in Fire, and now you want to have a go at making your own knife? "Will it cut?" Let's find out! This course is perfect for anyone who would like to try their hand at Blacksmithing and Bladesmithing. You will learn the traditional techniques passed down through the ages for forging knives and many other edged tools, including forging, grinding, and heat treating to produce a blade that will stay sharp in use. This one-day course is for one or two people to forge a single blade. If you'd like to attend as a pair and forge a blade each, two tickets will be required. There is enough time to forge a blade with a maximum length of 6 inches. A kitchen knife is recommended and usually the most useful option for most people, as you can use it every day! Alternatively, you are welcome to bring with you ideas for the style of knife you'd like to make, including: -Kitchen knife -Hunting knife -Bush craft knife -Re-enactment knife -Fishing knife -Woodwork tool ... or anything else your imagination can conjure! The Kerr Forge Blacksmith, Jon, will be alongside to help and advise at every step to ensure you take home a knife you are proud to use for a lifetime.
What's included in the price?
Our courses are unusual in that they are always very small groups (we only sell 3 tickets per session). You won't be lost in a large group or left to struggle! Your project can be totally customised to your desires. You will be learning in a relaxed environment where the content, timings and structure of the day can be customised to your requirements. All the tools and materials required to make your knife and handle will be provided. Knives will be made from highly durable high carbon steel which will last a lifetime with proper care. I make sure I have a variety of exciting (and expensive) materials available to use in your designs, including exotic woods for handles, beautiful mosaic pins for knives, and the best quality high carbon steel which will remain sharp in use. I'm keen to do everything I can to ensure the products you take home are beautiful objects that you will be proud to show off to your friends and family, and will last a lifetime (and longer!). Soft drinks, tea and coffee will be provided.
