Looking to learn the art of leather working? This journal workshop is perfect for beginners who want to create a stunning notebook that's as unique as they are. A variety of design choices are available, from slip covers to binding your own pages. This course is absolutely perfect for a solo crafter looking for an informative and hands-on workshop. Book for two for some fun quality time with a loved one. This workshop can be run alongside our Wallet Leather crafting workshop as well! --- Workshop Structure --- This session is privately booked for 1 day from 10am to 4pm, with a 1-hour lunch break. Morning: Starting the day, we delve into the different types, styles and thicknesses of leather. After we know our material, we look at how to pattern your journal and what hurdles we may face. Once the pattern is complete and you've chosen your perfect leather, we can begin cutting your project straight from the hide.​ Midday: Once cut, we can begin preparing our leather using some of the of tools we have at our fingertips here in the studio. We look at edge finishing, as well as how we want to decorate our journal and any hardware we'd like to add. Once prepared, you then have the option to dye your work using your choice of colours from our range. Afternoon: After lunch, our project will be dry from any leather dyes and ready to assemble. This is where any stitching comes in! We will use a beautiful traditional saddlestitch to bind any pages into your journal or to assemble pockets on slipcovers. Once together, we add finishing touches and your journal is ready to take home! --- What will you craft? --- In our Journal Course you will make one notebook with bound pages or slip cover for an existing book or journal. You will hand make your own pattern which can also be taken away with you for future crafting. Each course is tailored to the student attending and our fantastic professional leather crafting tutor, Pipa, will be by your side the entire day to ensure you gain the absolute most out of your time with us. --- What's Included? --- Your workshop includes the materials for one A5 sized bound journal or slip cover. It also includes use of the studio and it's contents for the day. Our workshop space is jam packed with goodies to create your perfect and unique project. We can accommodate up to A4 size or more complex designs. Larger sizes are only available in slipcover or folio design. Please contact us if you are requesting a larger journal as there may be a slight surcharge to accommodate additional material cost. After your workshop, you will also receive a copy of our 26 page Buyers Guide. Filled with articles, handy information and a list of UK suppliers, this booklet has been specially produced to ensure all our students leave our course with everything they could possibly need to continue their journey in leather crafting. We also have a small cafe's worth of tea, coffee and snacks whilst you craft!
