"Neither of us had any experience of weaving, so this taster course provided by Jeremy was just the right level for us both. The looms had been prepared with different warp patterns to help us discover variations in finished weave from both changes to the warp and weft. After an explanation on how the looms had been prepared and how to work the leavers we were straight into weaving, starting with plain weave and changing to more complex lift sequences during the course of the day. We both completed a sampler to take home to study and keep as a memory of an interesting day. We enjoyed talking about design and seeing many examples of Jeremy’s work and looking at his mood boards discovering the inspiration for his beautiful finished pieces. He is a great tutor and his light and airy studio a wonderful venue for a fun and really enjoyable day’s weaving experience."

"Two of us had a wonderful day weaving, starting with all the basics and progressing to a wide range of different structures. Jeremy was an excellent teacher, responsive to individual skills, interests and stamina, and using many completed examples of his own."

"A friend and I had a lovely day with Jeremy weaving a sample blanket. Two four-shaft kind were ready warped with different warp setups across the width and we tried out different combinations of lift pattern. I was briefly worried the day would be too easy, as we had both done some weaving before. But no, it was just Jeremy ensuring our basics were solid, and we swiftly moved on to harder combinations and interesting weaves. In addition the garden and studio are beautiful, Jeremy provides coffee as well as gentle and perfectly directed help (and thousands of examples of finished weaving), it's topped off with a rural setting and morose dog. A lovely way to spend a day, whatever your weaving expertise."

"We had a fantastic day. Jeremy is a very knowledgable, patient teacher and kept us supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. I had a small amount of previous experience, my sister none, but we both came away with a wonderful sampler of different weaving patterns and an understanding of how these can be achieved. The beautiful studio in its lovely garden was a pleasure to work in. A great day for a beginner or experienced weaver."

"I really enjoyed this taste of weaving. The tutor’s approach meant that I came away with a really good understanding of the potential to create pattern from the warp and the weft, while at the same time having plenty of time to simply ‘weave’ and enjoy the process of using a 4 shaft loom. This course is perfect for beginners and also those with a little experience who really want to explore pattern and texture more deeply. The garden studio is spacious and works well for social distancing ... myself and a neighbour went on the course together and wore face masks and sat well apart, so the course was perfectly ‘COVID’ safe."

"As a taster day to give an insight into the craft of weaving, this was excellent. Jeremy has clearly put a lot of thought into his approach, and had 2 (socially distanced) looms - one for each of us - set up in a large room. The looms were warped up in such a way as to let us see the effect both of very simple patterns and of more-complex designs. He explained enough of the theory to give an insight into the possible levels of complexity without frying our brains, and also showed us lots of different samples of work to stimulate our interest and enthusiasm. By the end of the day, we had each woven a lovely sampler to take away - as a momento of the course and a reference for future work."

"I wanted an idea of how easy it was to get started with weaving, what quality of fabric could be produced by a novice and whether it was something I would enjoy at all. This taster day was perfect for that. Everything was set up for us (in a lovely setting) so we could just weave. We first learnt the mechanisms behind the patterns which we were then able to see in action immediately. Jeremy welcomed us into his home, plied us with a constant stream of tea and biscuits and answered all our questions about weaving, both as an activity and as an art form. He showed us lots of demonstration pieces and explained how they were created. I found it quite therapeutic with a lot of scope for creativity and can easily see it turning into a long term hobby. We would both recommend Jeremy's course either as a one off taster or an introduction into the world of weaving!"

"I attended this weaving workshop with a friend - we had a great day learning how to weave and how to read patterns. We were delighted with the samplers we made. We were shown many amazing samplers and items made by the tutor. Can’t wait to get going with more weaving!"

"I spent a lovely day understanding weaving diagrams, looking at samples, and best of all, weaving my own sampler, with the understanding to explain it to my husband when I got home."
