Description
Come and spend a day in the woods learning a variety of woodland crafts! This course starts off with chopping our fire wood for the day and then getting our camp fire started with a firestick. You will learn how to use different axes to cut fire wood and kindling and how to use different types of tinder to get a fire started. Then once the kettle is on we will make a mallet from a log using axes and pull saws. Before lunchtime we will take a short walk around the woods and learn about the plants we can forage and how we can ID trees at different times of year. After lunch we will carve a spoon from green wood using specialised tools. All in the beautiful surrounding of a wild woodland. The workshop takes place on Greenbroom Farm. We are off grid, except for water, so expect rustic and wild. We have compost toilets on site and a large car park with an organic veg hut. The woodland site is covered so we can run in wet weather, however, the course will be postponed in high winds as it can be dangerous to spend prolonged time in the woods. This workshop is suitable for children 8yrs+. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
