David Woodhouse reviewed: Bring Your Own Upholstery Project - Saturday Workshop

"I had the most fabulous day learning the basics of upholstery with the wonderful Sarah who welcomed me into part of her home. This day was part of my birthday present bought for me by my wife and I can honestly say that the whole day was just perfect. Sarah is a brilliant teacher who demonstrated each part of the process in a comprehensive way to ensure that I had a complete understanding of what was required, she then let me try and replicate the process with gentle hints to assist me in getting the required result. At no point was I made to feel inadequate and I was delighted with my finished result and will definitely return for some more instruction but this time with my wife who is also keen to learn."

Ranbir K. Bains reviewed: Natural dyeing - a taster day

"Thoroughly enjoyed this course. Judy is very engaging as a tutor. Her knowledge and years of experience is evident in the ease with which she is able to impart this in her teaching. I am new to the craft of dyeing and having thought I would be able to teach myself, I realised how invaluable it is to learn from a practitioner. A plus is Judy still loves her craft and teaching its techniques to new students."

Judy P. dye - print - weave responded:

"Thankyou so much Ranbir, I’m glad you enjoyed the day. And I look forward to seeing you in July for another workshop. Get back to me with any questions when you are set up at home to do your own plant dyeing. "

Gill reviewed: Heelan Coo Sculpture Carving

"What a fabulous day! Tom was knowledgeable and helpful in a lovely woodland setting. The weather was clement and the fire was great to sit around for breaks and to natter. The carving was great but definitely hard work using the axe. Tom was so encouraging and we had a great day. The toilets are quite far from the workshop so don't leave it till the last minute and the signage could do with a wee bit of a refresh, especially for those of us with dodgy eyesight, but all round a great experience we would highly recommend."

Ruth reviewed: Glassblowing Full Day Masterclass

"Exciting day in a glass blowing studio with fire and molten glass. I was a complete beginner and I had never seen live glass blowing before. Bethany and Kate demonstrated the processes step by step then guided and supported us in making our own items. I learned such a lot about the intricacies of making glass as well as having a go at making a paperweight, a bowl and a vase. Excellent day. Would recommend it. "

Lynn & Jeff reviewed: Raku - learn the exciting art of rapid Japanese glaze firing

"When I booked it for a gift experience we really didn't know what to expect. When we arrived we were welcomed by a lovely group, 7 of us in total. Step by step we were guided by Richard using different glazes etc to produce so many effects. I would definitely recommend the day and we left with 4 pots each, all different in styles. Richard and the group made it a very special day. We stayed in the Cross Keys pub in the village (5 mins from course venue) and got complimentary breakfast £10. A lovely gem of a village too."

Potterydayz responded:

"Thank you for taking the time to put up this detailed review. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed your experience in Kings Cliffe. A pleasure to have you attend the Raku course and I hope to see you again in the near future. "

"Excellent value for the volume of techniques learned and Lynn encouraged my vision to create something unique. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and learned so much from Lynn who is such a nurturing teacher. Each moment of the day was exciting and I am so pleased that I took this course. I highly recommend this course to anyone - you will not be disappointed!"

Paint What You Feel responded:

"Thank you for your thoughtful review, Diana. I'm really glad you got so much out of the day. It's always my intention to work with everyone's particular experience. I loved seeing your work. I think it's fantastic, it offers a lot for the viewer to contemplate. A sight into your soul. Your more 'whimsical' paintings are lovely too. Both deserve a place in your portfolio. I think we shouldn't be constrained too much by what we think others may think. Your art is most definitely yours, and wonderful to look at! I hope we will work together again! Happy painting, Lynn"

Ailsa Clarke reviewed: An Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom, Oxford

"I really enjoyed the Introduction to Weaving with a Table Loom course in Jeremy's beautiful studio. Jeremy was very patient (I was a complete beginner) and paced the day well. The course is well structured, with the theory considered and then followed up with practice. My initial fears that I wouldn't complete all the different patterns were unfounded as I did indeed finish them all, and it was very rewarding to be able to take home the completed sampler. Jeremy shows you many examples of his own work to illustrate the huge range of patterns and yarns which can be produced, and his work is truly inspirational. If you want to start weaving or are just interested in textiles, this is the course for you! "

Bella reviewed: Introduction to Soap Making Workshop with Afternoon Tea, East Yorkshire.

"This course was amazing, an amazing value for money. I literally have so much soap, I will be able to gift it to family when it is cured. I booked a private workshop with four friends after attending another workshop with Sharon. I literally learnt so much on this course and feel really confident in making more soap at home. Sharon had so many products and fragrances on offer, I was spoilt for choice. We enjoyed afternoon tea with home made cake and scones, sandwiches and fresh coffee was on offer. As a group we have now booked Sharon’s new skin care workshop, we literally cannot wait. Thank you again. "

John Carroll reviewed: Landscape Photography Lessons for Beginners

"The first session I had with Frank would have been difficult to follow. However this, the second session surpassed any expectations. Frank has a way of making the difficult to understand, seem so easy. His patience and his step by step approach to instruction makes sure that you are sure to finish the sessions a far more informed and competent person than you started. An added bonus ………….. what a nice fella. John from Annan."

Frank Clarke responded:

"Thanks John, it was great to have your company and picking up where we left off. Keep shooting and see you in Scotland this summer to photograph some of your amazing wildlife and scenery. "

Polly reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"I really enjoyed my first time doing Reduction Lino Printing, Lee is a very good teacher particularly as it is quite a complex process. He taught me a lot about mixing the right colours and applying 3 colours in one roll, very effective after 3 prints. He very gently mentors you and recommends solutions for everything. To work surrounded by his prints is very inspirational. I enjoyed my day and as I am lucky enough to be local I shall be back to do more. Thank you Lee."

Patrick reviewed: Make a shave horse at Sallerton Wood

"Our little band of very keen Green Woodworkers arrived to a woodland paradise in the Devon countryside, Sallerton Wood. With a mixed background of skill levels, but all with high levels of enthusiasm. Inspired by Andy, our tutor, and Green Woodworking Guru, and after a welcoming cup of tea/coffee in the excellent covered field kitchen and dining area, we set off to select our components for our Shave Horse, and begin our 2 day course. The days flew by, as our work progressed, and thanks to Andy’s tuition and guidance, we soon mastered the necessary skills to complete our projects. Bow sawing as a pair, draw knife, shave horse, rounding plane, side axe, pole lathe and froe. He also managed to conjure up our very tasty and nutritious lunches, even finding time to produce dough from scratch, for Calzone, in his own hand built Wood Fired Cooking Range, based on the Rocket Stove principle. It was amazing! Local cheese and foraged wild garlic, served up with salads. As an award winning chef, I was very impressed! I thoroughly enjoyed the course, and cannot wait to start coppicing green wood from our own Little Wood in Lincolnshire, and utilising my own shave horse to produce my first project. Thank you Andy and his team 🙏🏾"

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thank you very much indeed, Patrick, for your very comprehensive and enthusiastic review. We are delighted that you enjoyed and appreciated the course and its woodland setting. Thanks also for your very kind words about Andy's tuition and indeed his cooking skills! We look forward to hearing about how you get on with using your shave horse with greenwood from your own woodland in Lincolnshire. Do stay in touch and we look forward to meeting you again sometime in the future."

"I would recommend this to anyone! Doesn't matter if you have craft skills or not. The instruction was clear and fun! Lovely pastries on arrival and everything was set up. We were not rushed out at the end and had time to choose our colours to be applied to the jugs, with examples on display. Good bunch of people which made the experience all the better. Thank you!"

Simon reviewed: Blacksmithing Beginners day courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"One of the most enjoyable courses I’ve done. Adrian is a hugely talented blacksmith that is happy to share his skills with a group of complete beginners. We all managed to make a key ring and then a “Dragon head” set of hooks for coats etc. It was so rewarding and everyone managed to make “beautiful” items and have some fun along the way. Thanks to Debbie who provided lovely food and refreshments throughout the day and great comms pre and post course…. Cake really helped :) I’d wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone !!"
